Help us send a message to the world that Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll does not represent Idaho.
Last week, Nuxoll became the embodiment of intolerance when she refused to listen to an invocation by Hindu statesman Rajan Zed.
If that wasn’t bad enough, later in the day, she proclaimed, “Hindu is a false faith with false gods.”
Since then, she’s doubled-down on the appalling rhetoric, drawing parallels between Hinduism, abortion and infanticide.
What’s more, she’s refused to apologize for any of it.
We obviously can’t apologize for her actions or force her to behave in a mature, respectful way, but we can thank Zed for his visit and send a message to people of all faiths that they are always welcome in Idaho.
We can demonstrate that Idahoans are dignified people who embrace and celebrate cultural and religious diversity.
But most of all, we can refuse to allow one person’s dishonorable behavior to define who we are as a state, a community or a people.
